Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

The drawing format RTF (.rtf) was introduced in AutoCAD 2010. It supports importing and exporting drawing information and contains the content of a design drawing in plain text format. The format does not support explicit DWG or DXF content and does not contain any CAD information. The AutoCAD translation service uses the RTF file to create a DGN file. RTF file import allows to export the DGN file into a DWG or DXF format.

File systems

AutoCAD allows importing and exporting of file formats such as DWG, DXF, DGN, PDF, PS and SVG. As CAD is intended to be a document-based system, each drawing and associated auxiliary files are stored in a project in a file system.

The same file system on the same computer system can be used by multiple AutoCAD installations. Since the computer system often acts as a database server, some companies use a “file server” or “database server” to store the project files. As most CAD file systems support moving files between computers, a CAD file that is not used on a certain computer system is easily moved to another computer system.

Project files can be stored on a local hard drive, CD-ROM or any other suitable mass storage device.

WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get)

AutoCAD has a WYSIWYG view. This view is mostly available in the 2D drafting and construction views.

The WYSIWYG view is the default view for editing existing drawings.

When the view is active, the user can perform operations such as importing, exporting, mirroring, copying, deleting, and viewing an image.

The WYSIWYG view is available in many other views such as the command line, user defined views, and the query window.

The WYSIWYG view is not available for the drawing styles. The view is available in the DWG and DGN formats.

The view is not available for drawing information such as dimensions, drawing elements, filters, layers, and components.

When the WYSIWYG view is active, the view is inactive.

The AutoCAD drawing engine was developed in the 1980s by PTC in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The name comes from the phrase “AutoCAD drawing engine”.

Both the fixed-effects and random-effects models were conducted in a meta-analysis (the fixed-effects model has been widely used for data with strong heterogeneity). We used the estimate of the study of the log hazard ratio (HR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) as a measure of the prognostic significance. Heterogeneity was evaluated by the Q statistic and *I*^2^, which were used to determine the degree of heterogeneity. A large *I*^2^ indicated a high degree of heterogeneity; if *I*^2^ \> 50%, the heterogeneity is considered substantial ([@B14]). In addition, a *P*-value \< 0.05 was considered significant. A funnel plot was constructed to assess the publication bias.

The Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software (version 2.0; Biostat, Englewood, NJ) was used for this meta-analysis.
