Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Several beloved events are returning, like a stop on the Dancing with the Stars: Live! Tour bringing the hit TV show’s energizing dance moves to Augusta; the Augusta Home and Garden Show with all of its gifts and decorator inspirations and the Battle of Aiken, which brings a momentous Civil War-era event back to life. Here are some more details on these and other upcoming Augusta-area festivities:
Dancing with the Stars: Live
The glitz and glamor of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” is on tour, and is stopping at the Bell Auditorium on Telfair Street at 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25. Guests will see ballroom dancing from special guests like country musician Jimmie Allen, “The Talk” co-host Amanda Kloots and mirror ball champions like “The Bachelorette” of season 11 Kaitlyn Bristowe and NBA player Iman Shumpert.

Augusta Home and Garden Show
The 17th annual Home and Garden Show will be at the Augusta Convention Center on Reynolds Street from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Several vendors will be in attendance, offering merchandise, tips and inspiration for home improvement and outdoor living in addition to giveaways and family-fun activities. Black History Month events
Augusta’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. parade, which was postponed in January out of COVID-19 concerns is rescheduled for Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. This year’s theme is “When We Fight, We Win.” The parade starts at the Dyess Park Community Center, 902 James Brown Blvd. The route proceeds south on James Brown Boulevard to Wrightsboro Road, north on Augusta Avenue, east on Laney-Walker Boulevard then north on 11th Street before concluding on D’Antignac Street.

Shea Butter Empowerment is organizing a festival at noon Sunday at Pendleton King Park on Troupe Street in Augusta. Some of the activities include character meet-and-greets, live entertainment, vendors and a bounce house.
The Voices of the Past series is continuing at the Augusta Museum of History on Reynolds Street on Saturdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. This weekend, guests will learn from a historical re-enactment that tells a story loosely based on the life of Cornelia Winfield who was born in Oglethorpe County and eventually married and settled in Augusta with her husband after emancipation. Admission is free with a museum ticket.
Aiken’s 12th annual Black History Jazz Concert will be held at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center on Edgefield Ave North West on Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. Live music, dancing, refreshments and door prizes will be available. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door; they can be bought at the Odell Weeks Activities Center, Smith-Hazel Recreation Center and the Lessie B. Price center.
Battle of Aiken
The 28th annual “Battle of Aiken” is back Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1210 Powell Pond Road in Aiken. Guests will visit the park that has been converted to a community of homes and campsites reminiscent of the 1860s and learn about Civil War-era history and culture from reenactors portraying characters of the time.
The focal point of the event are battle re-enactments that feature infantrymen, cavalrymen, guns and cannon fire. Guests can also enjoy food, live music and dancing. Admission tickets are only available at the door. Children ages five and younger get in free. For more information, go to battleofaiken.com.
Concerts
“Cash Unchained: The Ultimate Johnny Cash Experience” will be onstage at the Miller Theater on Broad Street at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The national touring band will be performing and celebrating beloved American musician Johnny Cash. Tickets can be bought at the box office or online at millertheateraugusta.com.
Parker McCollum will be playing his Americana music at the Bell Auditorium on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be bought at the James Brown Arena box office and online at aectix.com. Availability was very limited, as of Tuesday.
Onstage
The Augusta Players will take the Imperial Theatre stage for three performances of the musical farce “Something Rotten,” which the troupe says is “the funniest musical comedy in 400 years.” See it at 8 p.m. Friday or Saturday or a matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday.
