A variety of events are taking place across the San Diego region this week, including some that celebrate small-scale craftsmanship, Jewish films, home improvement products and more.
San Diego Home Improvement Expo
The San Diego Home Improvement Expo is returning to the Del Mar Fairgrounds next weekend, offering one-stop shopping for people looking for home and garden improvement products, services and advice
The two-day extravaganza features hands-on demonstrations, hundreds of home-improvement products and services exhibitors, plant sales and face-to-face consultations with top experts.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4.

San Diego Jewish Film Festival
The 34th annual San Diego International Jewish Film Festival will be held in person from Jan. 31 to Feb. 11 and virtually from Feb. 11 to 18, showcasing an array of films that depict elements of Jewish and Israeli life, history and culture.
Since its inception in 1990, the festival has become one of the largest and most prestigious film festivals of its kind. It has the highest attendance of any Jewish cultural event in San Diego County, playing to roughly 20,000 patrons every year.
The festival presents feature-length documentary, narrative and animated films along with guest speakers and filmmakers.
Films are screened in the 500-seat theater at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center in La Jolla.
Mitchell Thorpe run/walk
The 15th Annual Warrior Spirit 5k Run/Walk & Family Festival takes place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (2/3) at Poinsettia Park, 6500 Hidden Valley Road in Carlsbad.
The event is a fundraiser for the foundation, whose mission is to support families whose children suffer from life-threatening illnesses, diseases, and disorders by providing financial, emotional, and resource support to their desperate situations.
Registration is $55 for adults, with reduced prices for teens and children.

San Diego Miniatures Show & Sale
From dollhouses and dioramas to tiny furniture and accessories, there’s something for everyone at the San Diego Miniatures Show & Sale taking place Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 4, at the University of San Diego.
The event features a wide variety of miniature exhibits and displays that showcase the artistry and attention to detail that goes into creating these small-scale wonders.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the university’s Hahn Center.
