My passion for POET’s mission runs deep, not only because of the pride I feel in helping to carry on the legacy of the business my family built but also because I get to go to work each day and be a part of changing the world from right here in Sioux Falls. I might be slightly biased in my belief that communications professionals have the most fun, but I’m especially fortunate that POET has such a remarkable story to tell. We’re creating harmony between human and nature, using cutting-edge technology to harness the regenerative power of agriculture and create better, cleaner, plant-based biofuel and bioproducts. I think the future looks very bright, both for POET and for this community, and I’m very excited to be a part of what lies ahead!’

“Professionally, Miranda steadily has built her skills in the last seven years, rising from an entry-level position supporting POET’s content strategy to now overseeing public relations, executive communications and crisis communications for the world’s largest producer of biofuel and a global leader in sustainable bioproducts. She increasingly serves as a voice for the company — both behind the scenes through her communication support and publicly as she’s taken on a range of community involvement, including participating in Leadership South Dakota, providing public relations support for Tre Ministries and volunteering for a number of local causes. My goal is to make an impact both professionally in the Sioux Falls business landscape and philanthropically by giving my time and talent to those in need in Sioux Falls.”
From the nominators: “Antonio is one of the finest young men I have the privilege of knowing. I have known him since he was a school boy and have watched him grow into a talented business man as well as a man with a heart for compassion, empathy and for working to make a difference in the lives of those fighting mental illnesses. Antonio has been an integral part of lives since we lost our son, Ben, to suicide in 2020. He now helps run our not-for-profit, The Longley Foundation. Antonio cannot be replaced, both as the integral face of the foundation, meeting with sponsors, donors and, most importantly, keeping a core group of friends, now spread all across the U.S., in touch with one another and bringing them all back to Sioux Falls in July each year to play in the Longball 22 Golf Tournament. His ability to converse with people on different levels is most important, and Antonio can make anyone feel seen, heard and valued. He will step up and do what is asked of him or take the lead when he sees things need to be done. Antonio is also a loving husband, son, brother and friend. His family see his zest for life and support him in his work with our foundation. Losing a friend to suicide at the age of 22 was and remains a hard lesson for anyone; however, it takes a special person to take that pain and use it for good. I know Antonio is going to play a very important role in leading others to see the value in friendships, business and family. I believe there is no young man more deserving of being recognized than Antonio. He truly is one-in-a-million.”
“Antonio is an emerging leader in Sioux Falls. Beginning in college at the University of South Dakota, Antonio developed a passion for philanthropy through work with his fraternity. He was involved with a number of philanthropic events, such as Dakotathon that supports pediatric care at Sanford Health. Notably, Antonio and a few other peers experienced a traumatic loss in college when they lost their friend, Ben Longley, to suicide. To preserve Ben’s impact on their lives and to help make a difference in mental health care for young people, Antonio and his friends worked with the Longley family to begin an annual fundraiser in 2020, the Longball Classic. This fundraiser has supported work with a number of organizations to make an impact on suicide prevention in young people.
“After developing an early interest in philanthropy during college, Antonio has continued to make an impact on Sioux Falls through an involvement in community appeals campaigns with the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce, where he has raised money for multiple worthy causes. He also continues to support the Longley Foundation by serving on their board and continuing the Longball Classic event. Antonio is not just a philanthropic leader but an engaged community volunteer. Antonio is a member of the Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network where he serves on the organization’s steering committee. He plans networking and professional development events for the organization’s members. Through his role in YPN, Antonio has demonstrated a commitment to making Sioux Falls an attractive place for young people to live and grow in their careers. In Antonio’s career, he has made an impact on the growth of Interstate Office Products. Antonio is a third-generation member of the business, working alongside his cousin James Gaspar and his mother, Sheila Casiello. In his time at IOP, Antonio has guided digital transformation initiatives throughout the company. He has implemented new CRM and field productivity software and is guiding the organization through a transition to a new order management system. He has also worked to systemize and standardize processes for operations and finance. Antonio’s impact on IOP cannot be understated as he helps the organization manage through growth and change. She has established herself as Premiers subject matter expert in lifecycle strategy, has built partnerships across the organization anchored in trust and character, and is revered for being both brilliant and humble. She has thrived at Premier because her personal ethos aligns with our institutional ethos, and she always puts others ahead of herself. Outside of the office, Lynae is equally sacrificial and unrelentingly focused on the greater good. While being a single mother to her cherished 2-year old son and a high achieving future leader at Premier, she consistently makes the time to give back to Sioux Falls. She is active member at Connection Church, a volunteer with The Banquet, Meals on Wheels, Operation Christmas Child and Toys for Tots, and has fundraised for Sioux Falls Walk to End Alzheimer’s in honor of her beloved grandfather. Be it in academia, at Premier or in the community, Lynae stands out as a future leader who does the right things for the right reasons. She regularly volunteers to take on tasks that others would consider mundane to keep the TSP mechanical department running smoothly.
“Jenna is preparing to soon take her professional engineering licensing exam, but she has already become an industry leader. Jenna is a focused and engaged team member who consistently contributes to our office culture by participating in team-building events and fostering connections among colleagues. As a young professional, she thoughtfully seeks opportunities to engage with TSP team members she may not know well, helping to cultivate meaningful relationships and a collaborative work environment. Jenna’s dedication to building relationships and enhancing workplace camaraderie highlights her strong leadership potential and commitment to creating a positive and inclusive culture.
“Beyond the office and her high-volume workload, Jenna plays an active role in TSP’s community-involvement initiatives, often stepping up to help lead and organize events that make a meaningful impact. “Briana also stands out in her career achievements in the military before turning 30 years old. She’s received multiple accolades like South Dakota Air National Guard Airman of the Year (2016), South Dakota Air National Guard Recruiter (2020-2023), Air National Guard Recruiter of the Year – Top Non-Prior Service Accessions Award (2022) and the ultimate demonstration of leadership by serving our country with a deployment in Afghanistan (2018). Yet if you ask what her favorite part of her time in the military was, she’ll smile and state something similar to “working with young people as a recruiter.” Her mentorship aided in her receiving accolades as stated above, but that’s not why she did it. Her dedication to helping people shone through in that role. After nearly 12 years, she continues her service as a part-time aircraft maintenance officer and managing a team in addition to her full-time job. Briana also stays extremely involved in our Sioux Falls community. She is truly the definition of a “people-person.” Anytime you interact with her, she exudes energy and positivity! - Hometown: Sioux Falls
- Education: Bachelor’s of genetics with minor in psychology, Iowa State University
In his own words: “Prior to my time at the Mobile Market, I tended to shy away from leadership positions and really just talking in general. On the market, we work with a lot of volunteers who receive ‘crash courses’ on our retail operations whether that means processing inventory or handling customer transactions. With their support, we handle a weekly rotation of stops and the occasional pop-up event, leading me to interact with hundreds, if not thousands, of people, all the while I have found myself increasingly involved in the community.”
From the nominator: “When Nicholas joined the team at the Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market earlier this year, he was simply looking for another interesting way to add to his resume. Today, the Sioux Falls native is not only the incredibly reliable driver who gets the Mobile Market to its destinations, he serves as assistant manager and IT specialist. In that role, Nicholas has adopted the mission of the Mobile Market as his own. His exceptional commitment and passion for the Eat Well Sioux Falls Mobile Market make him a vital asset to the community and the neighborhoods it serves. Nicholas’s dedication to the Mobile Market is evident in the meticulous care he provides for its truck and trailer, which serve as a grocery store on wheels.
“His responsibilities range from ensuring the generator operates smoothly to maintaining the cleanliness of the interior, including mopping floors and cleaning coolers. Typical retail grocery store stuff, right? But his efforts have ensured that underserved neighborhoods can consistently rely on the Mobile Market’s presence each week, bringing affordable, healthy food to those who need it most. What truly sets Nicholas apart is his genuine love for these neighborhoods and the people living there. He has built meaningful relationships with residents, particularly children who are naturally curious about this enormous pickup and trailer. Nicholas has unofficially mentored many of these kids, often providing an encouraging ear, an after-school snack and even gloves to warm up cold hands. His smile and friendly demeanor have made him a beloved figure among regular customers, who look forward to seeing him each week. Nicholas’ commitment goes beyond his title as assistant manager; he exemplifies tenacity and quick problem-solving skills that are vital to the success of this pilot initiative. His goal-driven nature and contagious ambition inspire those around him, making a significant impact on the community.”

Luke Wanous
- Age: 29
- Role: Administrator, The Good Samaritan Society
- Hometown: Owatonna, Minnesota
- Education: Bachelor’s degree, Augustana University; MBA, University of Sioux Falls
In his own words: “I have a great team around me at the GSS — Sioux Falls Center skilled nursing facility where we strive to provide the highest possible level of care for our residents. I truly love what I do and rely on the passionate work of each employee and leader of our facility to motivate me to be my best. My wife, Haley Wanous, also continues to push me to be my ultimate best and supports me in every step along the way.”
From the nominator: “Luke was selected as the administrator of Good Samaritan Sioux Falls Center in 2022. Since his tenure at the Center, the facility has seen a census growth from 62 residents to 88 residents. His leadership and dedication to this growth was vital to serve the need for the growing communities of Sioux Falls and outlying areas in need of skilled nursing care. Under the leadership of Luke, the facility operates at max capacity with quality nursing care, a culture of positivity and has become a leader in the industry.
“He is effecting change on the future leaders of the community to hopefully one day embody his same values and leadership in facilities across the community. Beyond the accolades and accomplishments, his biggest testament to leadership is his selflessness and commitment to the people and residents of the center. He has a personal relationship with every single person in the building and continues to create a culture of positivity and support. He is the true embodiment of a leader. The community has an amazing opportunity to continue to meet the growing needs of our elderly population in the opening of Founders Crossing, and it will be leaders like Luke that bring this opportunity to fruition.”
John Witzke
- Age: 26
- Role: Senior director of sales, Blue Star Investments/Cresten Capital
- Hometown: Estherville, Iowa
- Education: Estherville Lincoln Central High School, Iowa Central Community College
In his own words: “I originally got my start at Victra, and during my tenure and different positions there, we grew to become the largest Verizon Authorized Retailer in the U.S. with over 1,500 locations in 49 states. Now at Blue Star Investments, we are the third-largest Anytime Fitness franchise in the U.S. with 45 clubs in 11 states — four in Sioux Falls — with our goal of becoming the largest Anytime Fitness franchise in the United States. My father was a factory worker and my mother was a teacher in a small, small town in Iowa, and I am thankful for the community of Sioux Falls and all it does to empower young professionals. I want to continue to give back to the community through charitable efforts, but most importantly I want to impact it by empowering as many young professionals as I possibly can — to show them no matter what your background is, if you’re willing to put in the work and the time, you can accomplish anything.”
From the nominators: “Prior to Blue Star at Victra, he was general manager of the Brandon, Brookings and Sioux Falls 26th and Marion locations while serving the company at a larger scale through acquisition support and high-opportunity locations before becoming district manager in Green Bay before relocating back to Sioux Falls with his family. We hired John as a regional sales manager in the fall of 2023, and it was an instant ROI in our company. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to improve the sales in our company. He has revamped our membership and personal training sales process and effectively educated our company on implementation in this short time. In just December, one year after his arrival, we increased our membership sales by 31 percent over prior year. So far in January, we are on track to increase our sales by 26 percent over prior year. I’ve never seen a 26-year-old with more energy, wisdom and with a better gift for business strategy. On top of this, he is still a family man with a healthy work-life balance. He is a dedicated husband and father of two. I can’t imagine anyone more deserving of this award.”
“John has risen through the ranks of BSI, the third-largest Anytime Fitness franchise in the United States. He created, refined and scaled the membership experience process across the entire company, leading them to be one of the, if not the, top operators in the Anytime Fitness franchise. He’s participated in many community events with the AF team, including hosting a block party for all members in all four Sioux Falls clubs, participating in the fitness expos and even helping serve meals on Thanksgiving at Luckys. John promotes health and wellness but in a business-savvy way. The sky is the limit.”
Bailey Wood
- Age: 29
- Role: Associate director of marketing, Click Rain
- Hometown: Council Bluffs, Iowa
- Education: Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa; bachelor’s degree in marketing, Iowa State University; MBA, Creighton University
In her own words: “My passion for communication and connecting with people led me to marketing, and my belief in the power of community brought me to Sioux Falls. I’m eager to use my skills to make a positive impact here and contribute to the city’s continued growth.”
From the nominator: “Bailey is a driven and insightful person, who has a natural aptitude for leadership. She posses the ability to take complex problems and information, simplify it and then communicate it so that anyone can understand it. She has an analytical mind that allows her to methodically dissect a problem and discover innovative solutions. Bailey shows consistent initiative through spearheading new processes at work and helping her co-workers and reports to grow. She excels in collaborative environments, bringing each team member forward with her towards a common goal. Bailey’s persistence and determination make her an excellent candidate for the 30 Under 30 program.
“While in her undergraduate degree, she began a part-time marketing consulting business and worked as a research assistant. Even with these additional commitments, she was able to finish her undergraduate degree in two years. After graduation, she took a job in Omaha at a marketing agency but quickly realized that she was destined for more. She was determined to get her MBA for free. So she attended a graduate program open house at Creighton and walked out with a job offer to be a graduate assistant with her full tuition covered. While at Creighton, she was deeply involved in the community, donating time and effort to help organizations like the Financial Hope Collaborative where she helped organize marketing efforts for their nonprofit program, which provides financial education to those in need. She also co-wrote and researched a paper on community resilience and the role of community communication. She presented these concepts at the 2018 marketing public policy conference in Washington, D.C. She graduated from the program with 4.0 GPA while also running her marketing consulting business.
“After Creighton, she went on to consult for multiple businesses, running her own small marketing consulting agency. She later became a full-time marketing director for one of her former clients, a software engineering firm based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While there, she not only ran the marketing activities of the business but also worked on UI/UX for big-name companies like Sherwin-Williams and John Deere, helping to add the human element to software expertise. As a one-women marketing show, she had learned — much of it self-taught — to build websites, write copy, place media, perform market research, design ads and report back the metrics that mattered. This built an amazing foundation for understanding business and the greater marketing impact. But she was craving more community and working with other marketing experts, so she left her current role to join Click Rain remotely. This turned out to be a life-changing decision for our family. Click Rain provided her with an amazing place to flourish and build upon strategic marketing skills built in previous roles. She quickly becomes engrained with the Sioux Falls community even while living in another state. During her time at Click Rain, she has been promoted twice in two years, moving from a marketing strategist to a senior marketing strategist, to the associate director marketing, helping to lead her department and manage a team. She’s spearheaded campaigns to build new services at Click Rain, including introducing new market research deliverables. She is a leader of their Quench internship program and had the opportunity to work with the Sioux Falls School District to increase community awareness of the truancy issues Sioux Falls faces through their “Show Up” campaign.
“Since landing in Sioux Falls, she has firmly found her footing. She completed EmBe’s Women’s Leadership Program, has spoken at multiple local conferences, has been actively engaged with student organizations like AdFed and has recently just finished her first semester as an adjunct professor at Augustana. She has volunteered for many Sioux Falls organizations such as the Veterans Community Project, The Alliance and Sioux Empire United Way. Bailey is a magnetic individual who contributes meaningfully to conversations by being genuinely interested in others.”
